was preceded in death by her husband, A.V. and son, Jack. She is
survived by sons, James (Jan) Duckett of Port LaVaca, TX; Truman

grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great

Born November 26, 1919 in Fairmount, Georgia, she moved to
Albertville at a very young age. Although times were hard and she
helped with many chores, she attended school and even managed to
become a very good basketball player. She met and married the love
of her life while still a teenager and they were married for 63
years. Her greatest joy was becoming Mamaw and to experience
the good times when "all the family" would come back home. She
leaves behind many fond memories shared by her family of these
special times together. She delighted in watching her grandchildren
grow, having opportunities to go see them play sports, participate
in extracurricular activities, graduate.
She was best known for the beautiful flower gardens she created,
and received beautification awards for her efforts. It was common
for friends to stop by to get her flower cuttings. You could also
find her watching Alabama football and basketball.
She was a charter member of Albertville Central Baptist Church
where she was actively involved as long as her health
permitted.
Visitation will be Monday, October 17 from 6-9 pm at Albertville
Memorial Funeral Home, with a funeral service Tuesday, October 18
at 11 am. Burial will follow at Albertville Marshall Memory
Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in
Julia's memory to Hospice of Marshall County,408 Martling
Road,Albertville, AL 35950.
