Gladys Marie Scott

Gladys Marie (Killough) Scott passed away peacefully at her home on July 18th, 2026 at the age of 95 years old. She was born on November 27th, 1930 to James Joseph and Cassie Eula Killough of the Oneonta/Springville area. She grew up in a large family with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She worked on the farm and helped her mother with her work. She was saved at a young age and spent her life serving the Lord and others. She married Coy Eugene Stephenson in November, 1950 and had 7 children. Over the years she had many jobs and was known for her personality as a great waitress and a very talented seamstress. Most of all and what made her the happiest, was being a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She married Dalton Otis Scott in May, 1981. They had 30 happy years of marriage and made a wonderful home and many very good memories. She loved taking trips, gospel music and singings, visiting with family, and the outdoors. She was an excellent cook, an avid gardener, and she absolutely loved flowers. No matter what life’s circumstances were, she always found joy in the journey and that came from knowing the Lord. She was truly the heart of our family and lived life to the fullest. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Cassie Killough, husband Dalton Scott, sons John Douglas Stephenson and David Eugene Stephenson, daughter Judy Diana (Stephenson) Jolley, brothers Emory, Leonard, Pierce, Hobert, and Lawrence Killough, and sisters Rhonda (Killough) Chase and Sue (Killough) Martin. She is survived by one brother Horace Killough of Oneonta and her children: Betty (Donnie) Slaton, Robert Stephenson, Doris Hand, and Kenneth (Sherry) Stephenson and step-children: Regina Wright and David (Camille) Scott. Grand-children: Brian (Connie) Cornutt, Kim Cornutt, Michael (Wendy) Jolley, Sherry Stallings, Joseph Stephenson, Jacob Stephenson, Tyler (Laura) Hand, John-Morgan Stephenson, Amber (Phillip Hammond) Pitt, Angi (Chris) Kerns, Lauren Scott, Page Hollis and Cody Hollis. Great-Grand-children: Emma Cornutt, Lilly Cornutt, Ariana, Heaven, and Harper Stephenson, Wesley and Dakota Jolley, Chris Pitt, Alex Hammond, Kaden Hand, Nora Kate Richter, Cassie (Stallings) Bearden, Westley and Zoe “Mattie “Gardner, Spencer and Millie Thacker, Keely, Kambree, and Ledger Hollis. Pall-bearers: Brian Cornutt, Micheal Jolley, Joseph Stephenson, Tyler Hand, Wesley Jolley, Dakota Jolley. Honorary: John-Morgan Stephenson. Her Funeral Service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 at 2 p.m. Friends can visit from 12:30 until service time at the church. Church is located 8230 Pleasant Grove Road, Albertville, Alabama 35950. Bro. Brian Gibson will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Albertville Memorial Chapel.
