Micaela Pedro

September 14, 1955 - April 30, 2020

Micaela Pedro (Chikay), age 64, of Albertville, AL, passed away on April 30th at Huntsville Hospital from COVID-19. Micaela is predeceased by her parents Pedro Pascual and Angelina Jose and her husband, Martin. She is survived by her four children, Maria Pedro, Maria Andres, Andres Pedro, Pedro Andres; and her 7 grandchildren: Jaime, Aurelia, Cristina, Lucas, Isaac, Benjamin, and Gabriel. Micaela was a faithful prayer warrior in the service of Jesus Christ and an example to follow. She would always encourage many young people to put their faith in God. She spent countless hours praying with her beloved prayer group called Los Guerreros de Oración. Anyone who knew her knew that she walked with God. She was blessed in so many ways. She would share the many stories about how she would find money while on her favorite walks near her home. Micaela was also passionate about gardening and loved spending many hours with her grandchildren. She was a very loving, generous, kind, bubbly-type of Chikay (grandmother in Akateko, Mayan dialect). Many whom were not her grandchildren called her Chikay. She was everyone’s Chikay. Micaela and her family fled Guatemala in 1983 due to Guatemala’s Civil War. She came to the United States to provide safety for her family. Micaela spent many years working as a crop picker in Plant City, Florida and spent the last 10 years of her working career at Tyson Foods. Micaela was known for her contagious smile, and her kind and lively spirit. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Albertville Memorial Chapel at 12:30 p.m. followed by burial at Memory Hill Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Flowers or donations may be sent to 700 Orchid Ave. Albertville, AL 35951. She will be deeply missed and we will treasure her in our hearts forever.
