Susan Kaye Shadinger Roy Susan Kaye Shadinger Roy, 68 of Albertville passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on February 18, 1958, in Cullman, Alabama, to Herbert “H.G.” Shadinger and Mary Sue Shadinger. Susan was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family and her people. She treasured the time she spent with those she loved. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Kelly Roy, and her three children, Michelle Roy, Andrew Roy, and Matthew Roy (Abby), who will forever cherish the love and memories they shared with their wife and mother. She was a proud grandmother to Sadie Parker, Will Parker, Addison, Jackson, Turner, and Miller Frances Roy. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and the memories they made together will be treasured for generations to come. She never missed an opportunity to contribute to a special occasion or turn a normal day into a reason to celebrate. Susan shared a close and loving bond with her siblings, Darrell Shadinger (Shirlie), Ronnie Shadinger (Penny), and Kim Wilabay (James) as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with a host of Shadinger and Armstrong cousins who were much more than cousins—they were like brothers and sisters. These lifelong relationships brought Susan love, laughter, companionship, and countless cherished memories. In 1963 Susan moved to Albertville and fell in love with a community that loved her back. From serving the city privately in a number of ways, her greatest and most rewarding was Jessie’s Cafe. Every day she looked forward to serving her friends, giving out hugs, and offering a smile or a word of encouragement. Susan will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and for the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends. Though her passing leaves a great void, her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. There will be a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Albertville First Baptist Church. Bro. Donald Cotton and Bro. Chris Johnson will officiate her service. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. before the service. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. “Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.” Arrangements entrusted to Albertville Memorial Chapel.
